Hello Cocktail Mamers....
My cab is complete. However, my butt needs a good home when I'm gaming.
I've looked around for stools and seats for the cab (which has a wood stain finish...I'll post some pics soon). All the stools I find are 24 inch, but the cab is about 30 inches.
Any preferences you guys have for seating? Any places you could recommend I look? Does the 24 inch seat height matter?
Thanks!

I would look at something to support your lower back.
Sitting on a conventional stool all day can lead to all sorts of problems, internal and external. Whenever you buy something of this type - it always feels great for the first 15 minutes.
How about something molded that would meet the confines of your lower back and bottom, yet give good comfortable support and force correct posture?

Top site that I recomend time and time again.

These are what I want but expensive. 18" height customize it any way you want.

I'm toying with the idea of building a cocktail for my next project, has anyone ever sat on one of these?

Kneeling stool's are supposed to take some of the strain off your lower back and every time i see someone hunched over a cocktail cab staring at a completely horizontal screen I think it looks painful ;D
I know from sitting on a stool using my upright cab I usually end up with a numb arse and lower back pain and end up sitting cross legged after about an hour or so.

That's a bit out of my price range. The kneeling seat might be an idea, though I feel like you might have to be leaning to see the screen.
18 inches does sound about right for height. But $300 for two stools is nearly the cost of the cab! :laugh2:

Those things are super-comfy and IMO would be awesome for a cocktail table.

yeah, they are expensive but they look really nice. We have some bar stools and they are very comfy

I tried my neighbors kneely chair with my cocktail, and,
while it was a bit unconventional it was also very comfortable/ergonomic.
I played through a few games on it.
I didn't have room for it, though; so now I straddle my 6 liter bucket that I also use for changing aquarium water.
BTW...not even kneely chairs can save gamers from numb-butt.

I have one of those and I'd say two things about them. First off, they're not that comfortable on the knees after a period of time.
Secondly, even though I haven't tried it, I don't think it would get me close enough to my cocktail cab to play comfortably. Picture where your butt and torso are going to be on a seat like that. Picture where your butt and torso are on a stool. Picture how close/far your torso is going to be to the CP of your cocktail cab.

Hey lloyd, your URL is too long and is stretching the width of the thread. I've fixed it below so, in case you're not sure how to make short links, you can copy/paste this to fix yours.

Thanks for that! ;D

Just my 2 cents
I had one of those funky butt and knee chairs with a desk attached and it does kill the knees after an half hour.
The utility chair looks like it will cause prostate problems if you hunch over on it to look at the screen.
I have spent several hours on a standard padded folding chair playing on a cocktail table with no problems.
Id go simplistic and traditional but with a little style.

This might be cool.... http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4768445
I found another stool set at (dare I say) Wal-Mart. They were 24 inch, but the bottom of the legs were a seperate piece and about 6 inches long. I just didn't attach those and it ended up being like 18 inches and a great height. Pretty comfy. I took all of your thoughts into context. Thanks for the input, all.
BTW, cool stools that you made! Nice touch.

I would have to agree. My wife wanted one for the PC and I have been mad ever since. Your knees hurt, back cramp. You actually become Igor after a few minutes of use. I dont like them.

i use 2 'drum thrones' similar to this one.

they work out great, as they are height adjustable and can rotate...plus it's built for a drummer.
