Title: Great deal sites?
Post by: ChadTower on November 30, 2006, 10:20:21 am

Been poking around slickdeals.net (http://www.slickdeals.net).  Picked up a few useful things really cheap.  What other similar sites do folks watch?

I've been going to slickdeals for a few years now. The deals have dropped off now that alot of online shops are aware of slickdeals. The boards have been overwhelmed with thread crappers and off-topic remarks, so I don't post there any more.

However, you will fit in just fine there. :laugh2: :laugh2:

I only lurk there.  I don't have anything to add.

Good stuff.  I added all of those sites (except retailmenot) to my RSS watcher.  Gotta be quick.

www.bensbargains.net  (this is the only site I really go to, but I usually look at it at least once a day)

www.fatwallet.com  (I never use this, but I always get the impression that this is where all the hardcore dealhunters hang out)

These sites rock via RSS.  Every few minutes, ding, new deals.

try govdeals.com, it's an auction website for government property.

There are more of these types of sites, but this one is pretty easy to search.

Fatwallet without a doubt.   If it's posted at slickdeals it's either come from FW -or- it'll be posted over at FW shortly thereafter.

A lot of the deal sites share the same users so you'll see a lot of the same things everywhere but, afaic, FW is the big one and pretty much the only forum I spend time on.

I'll have to find one that covers the MA/RI area.

you have to objectivly look at deals like that. At first it looks like its worth buying even if you don't need a new wireless adapter, but there have been multiple people stating in the reviews that they got screwed on the mail in rebate. Others state that the thing was so cheap that it fell to pieces on them.

Unless I needed a wireless adapter, I would not buy this deal, just so I don't risk paying 20 dollars for something I wouldn't ever use.

I bought it because I have a use for it.  My son's PC is not on the Net unless I need it to be, so it's useful to be able to pop in a USB nic and then take the NIC out again when I'm done.

yep, thats fine then...good deals can be addictive, and mail-in-rebates just prey on people getting greedy with deals.

I like http://edealinfo.com, they usually have some good stuff.  Can't forget http://www.woot.com, I check there every day for a new deal.  I have also had some luck with http://www.bytesizedeals.com (they have deals on video games and dvds listed pretty often).

Woot is having a woot-off right now.. Ususally they have one deal a day, but during a woot-off they run the deal until it sells out then put another deal up.

I just noticed that 5 minutes ago.  The current item is not interesting (handheld sudoku).

Their last woot-off was mucho sucky-sucky. Better off going to the dollar store now with the crap they have been trying to unload.

woot's really hit or miss with their stuff, and the clientele is fickle.

2 woots ago, everything was expensive (but good deals) -> projectors, tv's, stereos, computers, etc. and people complained stuff was too spendy

last woot was inexpensive stuff with prices on about 75% of all items under $100....and people complained that the stuff was crappy and too cheap.

 :dunno

They can't always offer Bags of Crap with dvd players or hard drives in em for $1.00...
