I'm thinking of buying an XBox bundle with the following games included: Forza, Halo 2, Project Gotham Racing 2, and Fable.
Can someone here let me know whether these games are any good.

I've heard good things about halo2 and project gotham (if you like racers). No idea about the other 2.
I went for it earlier but turns out they had no stock for home delivery, and nowhere near me (London) had any xbox consoles in stock. Although I don't trust argos' system that much...
They have stock near you? I'm in two minds about this one.

Hmmm, I've just tried to reserve the bundle and there's also no stock at my local branch.
I'm also in two minds about this. I'd always intended to buy an Xbox for modding but only once the second hand prices dropped to Dreamcast levels. £50 is a very good deal for the bundle but hardly an impulse buy.

It won't drop to DC levels specifically because it can be modded to do so many things.

yes, but as they have extended the offer untill 24th dec, it should come into stock again.
I'm in the same boat as you. All the consoles I own have been picked up *dirt* cheap off friends or ebay (usually when the console costs the same as the postage!). £50 sounded great at first, but looking at ebay you can pick up 2nd hand ones with extra controllers and remotes for not that much more.... And then you need to get a mod chip...
xbox is tempting to me only for modability - I've seen a nice setup where it had stacks of videos and mp3's, bunch of emulators etc.. Not really bothered about the games. I would probably shove the games on ebay if I got the bundle making the puchase more cost effective...

FWIW, since it sounds like the bundle may not be available anyway, those are all excellent games. Every one of them. Well, at least I seem to remember Project Gotham being considered an excellent game. I haven't actually played that one for more than a few minutes. But the others are all fantastic.

I don't think you'll go wrong getting any of these. Fable was overhyped but certainly a good game (PS - there's a Lost Chapters edition which has more content if I'm not mistaken). PGR2 is one of the top racers and Forza maybe more so for "realistic" racing. What can I say about Halo 2 that you haven't already heard?
And once those are modded, they're just so great. The media center itself is worth having an xbox, and XBMC can be used as a dash as well so you can jump straight from music or movies into your gaming without getting up. Heck, regular xbox gaming is better if you load games on the hard drive just for the loading speed bump.
I could go on but you get the point.

Fable was the first game I tried to test the 480p on my first HD capable TV... and of course, it didn't work, but I had no way of knowing for two days that it was Fable that wasn't working and not the TV that wasn't working. :angry: :angry:

Those are all top selling xbox titles. Forza is a racing sim, very good at it too. Halo2 has been the number 1 xbox live game for almost two years. It took Gears of War to knock it off number 1. Personally I am not a fan of run and gun fps via controller. PGR2 is a semi-sim semi-arcade racer.
I picked up three xbox 1 games for my 360. Forza, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Redcard.

I had a look at this a few minutes ago here in Ireland, and its €150 for the games only, no console included. Is there a different offer in the UK?

The offer at argos is back up to £89.99 but with the games. Keep checking on this as they (argos) likes to make surprise online sales.

Damn, can't you guys just pretend the games are crap. That would make me feel better about missing out on the offer.
