Title: Looking for a good monitor repair person in New Jersey. 2 year Betson died.
Post by: Luljs1 on November 28, 2006, 06:48:05 pm
Anyone know of a good Arcade monitor repair person located in New Jersey. I would prefer Central or Northern Jersey, although I will travel for a good person.

I'm really pissed off that the monitor has died. its a Betson 27" Multisync monitor (44-4070-RT). I bought it brand new two years ago and its already died.  It was only used for a few hours a week since I don't really have that much time for gaming. I go to start the arcade machine up this Friday and I found a single "green" vertical line on the monitor. I tried disconnecting the monitor power and now there is no video and I hear a faint clicking sound from the back of the tube.

Needless to say, I am very pissed off since the monitor is only two years old. I'm hoping I can find someone local who can hopefully repair it for a good price.  Any recommendations to help a grounded gamer?

Thanks,
Joe

Betson themselves have a repair facility.  I believe they have a branch in Jersey.

Betson headquarters is in New Jersey. They service what they sell and have a huge repair department. I strongly suggest you take the monitor there.

Thanks for the responses. I know Betson's headquarters is in NJ. I actually got the monitor from there. Betson wasn't helpful to begin with, but I went with them since they were local and the monitor had received a good review from Retroblast at the time.

I'm pissed off with them and I would rather not give them any more of my money. Although it is looking like I will have no choice. Thanks for the responses and help.

Look in your local Yellow Pages under the heading of "Amusement Devices". You should be able to find a local game operator or large game distributor with a monitor service department who would repair it for you.

I'm might just have to take you up on that offer Thenasty. It looks like I may have to go with Betson. I haven't any luck finding a local repair shop in Central Jersey. I live in Woodbridge township. Its going to be a major pain trying to lug the monitor over to Carlstadt. Long drive, big monitor, and a small car is a bad combination. I don't even want to think about the repair price.

I'm still very disappointed with the monitor dying after only two years. Its gotten to the point that I've seriously considered giving up on the hobby.

I've thought about trying to repair it myself, but the high voltage concerns really freak me out. I don't mind probing around on a low voltage circuit board, high voltage is something I stay away from.
