Anyone got any idea of how much bandwidth would be needed to host a thumbnail gallery for finished cabinets that were built by BYOAC members?
I own a local VW forum for East Anglia UK (DeutschWorks) (http://www.forum.deutschworks.com) and am using about 1GB out of 100GB data transfer a month and I doubt it'll increase much more than that. I was thinking of making a sub domain, one clean basic page with thumbnails and hosting the images so they don't end up as dead links. Each image would have very basic information under the thumbnail (project name, makers name, website link) The main cabinet picture from the thumbnail would be resized down to an acceptable size to help with bandwidth usage.
Any thoughts or objections? I'd just like to be able to click around quickly and easily to see all these home-built cabs but at the moment have to visit the builders website and find image links, click through 'Project Announcements' until I find a finished shot, you know how it is.
Of course with links to this forum and Saint's 'Project Arcade' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Project-Arcade-Build-Your-Machine/dp/0764556169/sr=11-1/qid=1164539012/ref=sr_11_1/202-7309743-1872660) Bible :)
Any thoughts or objections?

Wouldn't suck down much unless you had ten thousand people visiting every day.

You may want to see the following discussions in the wiki discussion board (discussion about putting examples in the wiki):
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=55082.0
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=55173.0
And, the resultant Examples page in the wiki:
http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Examples
I am not recommending any particular course of action, but there may be some background info there that may be of value to you.
Cheers.

The wiki has got it covered by the look of it! I don't fancy ending up with a page that constantly needs maintenance due to dead links when theres only me to put it right, the wiki can keep that covered though.
I was just thinking that when I wanted to build a scratch built cab I could have done with a thumbnail gallery of cabinet designs as it's a slow process clicking 'uprights', 'builder's name', 'site link', find the image menu, ah there it is, back to the wiki to get another link. I might as well write my thoughts of cabinet design and create a gallery of originals as well as some one off BYOAC designs.
