A rare taito board needs to be purchased for dumping... but the
team is out of funds. Please help by donating what you can.

What game is it? They do not say. It would seem to be a nice thing if the "collector" if he was collecting for the purpose of nostalgia, would give it to them on loan for a little while.

They're at 87% so far...

Well since MAME's job is to preserve the GAMES, I just hope that this is not true.

I never got to learn the game yet (lots of them already) and maybe quiet entertaining, but I'm kinda stuck with Classics like Asteroids, Pac Family, and Kong etc.....
Whatever happened to Marble Madness 2: Marble Man ? Last I read is that, the Money was produce (some outrageos amount like $10,000 etc) and the guy changed his mind....... When the FUND was being ask, everyone knew what the games was and the $$$ was raised so quickly.
Enough of my ranting, I just wish I knew what the game is and hope its not whats mentioned on the above link. But then again, lets not forget the main goal of Mame.
Did this type of Game exist back in the 80's ? I spent to much time with the Pacs, SI, Asteriods, Centipede and the speaking game which I thought was kewl then cause it called me a CHICKEN and tells me to RUN.

If they released what game it was, the pricing could change. Whoever is selling it is letting the value drop because it will be emulated. Much like Marble Madness 2, if it were emulated owning one of those three cabs wouldn't really be all that special.
Whoever is bitching about it being a mahjong game is just being a little whiner that some game they wanted wasn't emulated... the idea of mame is to emulate it all so don't give if you're going to pout about where your funds go to.

I wonder if this missing Taito game is TIME GAL?
-
MMMMmmmmyeah...I understand the point, but if it is that 'rare' then he/she could still get the full amount from someone on ebay. The average arcade joe would not have purchased a $1200 card unless thye were like an uber collector.

From what I've seen they buy the PCB, emulate it, sell it on ebay for about what they bought it for (since the pricing hasn't changed because no one is the wiser as to it being emulated) and then they publish the name of the game.

From Guru: "...the fact that it is EXTREMELY expensive, one of the Most Wanted Taito games out there and is EXTREMELY rare should give you some idea of the importance of securing this PCB now."
Doesn't sound like a Mahjong board to me (who in their right mind would pay $1300 for yet another Mahjong board? :laugh2: )
-
I agree. I doubt highly any Mahjong game would be purchased for such
a price. That post was just an attempt to halt donations if anything...
Probably posted by a angered collector.
Could be one of these...

Hopefully MAME can use the $$$ towards purchasing another RARE game.
