Title: MAME - Front End Question

Hello. First time I've posted here and I did read the FAQ's a little bit but I'm having a little bit of issues figuring out were to start. I've played MAME on a mac for year. Now, I'm about ready to build a MAME Cabinet w/ My neighbor and I think we will be using DOS, Windows or W2K on a Pentium II running between 300-400 Mhz. What's the best way to start? I'm going to format the drive and reload the machine so I have a fresh OS. Which OS should I run? DOS or 98? Which version of MAME for Windows or DOS should I use? I also am looking for a good front end which when I boot up the machine it automatically goes to MAME where you select your games? Also, which version of MAME will give me a front end that you use the joystick to select your games?

Basically, after we get our computer and front end of MAME working we will then be working on our MAME controls.

With a 300-400 mhz I would suggest dos, perhaps arcadeos for a front end?

Problem you will run into are drivers, sound, etc in dos.
