I have a Mame cabinet that I want to play all of the Hyper Sports and Track & Field variations. Hyper Sports works like a champ but Track & Field is weird. When you tap both of the buttons you can only get up to about 850 or so, but if you tap only one button you can get up over 1000. Why is it cancelling itself when you tap two buttons quickly? This happens the same way on two different cabs so I know it's not the buttons.

I have noticed the same thing for one button vs. two buttons.

Yes same problem here to, its the right hand button for me just press this instead of the 2 in turns ???

I'm running MAME .106

Could be MAME's accuracy spoiling the gameplay a little again. If the original game had issues with delays/buttons cancelling each other out then it may have transferred to the rom dump as well. This isn't definite, just a theory as to why this happens.
-
I've run it in several versions of MAME so I'm guessing it is ROM related. I'm just hoping maybe someone has found a setting or something that helps.
-
Did you try the 'comb trick'? I thought that was pretty much the only way to get good scores in that game.
-
Kinda off topic but in my version, all the running events don't keep the top 3 times. Any idea why??
-
What version of MAME? High score support was removed recently.

I'm not sure if things have changed in the latest versions of mame but I reckon you need the NVRAM files to save these.

What are NVRAM files and where can I get them?

I could be wrong about NVRAM files, there's a list here but nothing for Track and Field.

I was sure Track and Field needed these but now I'm not too sure, unfortunately I lost my entire mame collection recently in a computer accident.
I'm sure there are much more learned MAME users here that can set you straight.

The high scores work on the other versions of T&F I have but not the real version. I am running the last version of PowerMame with a slighty old ROM set, .98 or 101 I think
