I use swappable panels for my cabinet, and I just setup a rotary control panel last night. I use MameAnalog+ as the emulator for these 10-12 games and set it up in Mala. When I hit "refresh", all the games came up in the list, videos worked, etc. I go into the games and they work fine, but when I exit the game and go back to the Mala menu screen, my layout is all messed up. I have to exit and re-enter Mala in order for it to go back to normal. Any ideas? Could it be some video setting in my mameanalog+ ini file? I'm using version 7 of Mala. Thanks!

Does the display of the MALA layout move towards the bottom righthand corner of the screen? perhaps post a screenshot showing what the layout looks like when it is "all messed up".

UncleT, I won't be able to post a pic until the weekend, but yes, I do believe the layout shifts to the lower right while the marquee and video stay in the correct locations.

Seems like the same problem I reported to Swindus a whle back. Not sure there was a fix yet since he was unable to reproduce it I believe. I would post your picture of your problem and perhaps with your logs then Swindus will be able to determine what is occurring.

Okay, finally got a chance to take some quick pictures before I left for work today. One thing I learned...my smoked plexi is filthy! ;D
Anyway, here are the original and "wonky" menu screens:

My problem looked different than this ... oh well. Perhaps Swindus will chime in and help you determine the reason this occurs.

That is weird. Have you tried using official mame of the same version?
I didn't touch mame's video code, but it could be a memory leak or something if it's mameanalog+ only. If it's both analog+ and official mame 0.8x, it's probably the older directX graphics code used.
-
U_Rebel, I haven't tried the same version of offical MAME, but I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

U_Rebel, I tried offical mame 83 and it worked fine. When I use Mameanalog+ 83.2 with identical mame.ini settings, I get the Mala error. :'(

I've had the same problem with some PC games and emulators when they started in either a different resolution than my desktop/layout or when the refresh rate was different.
Specifically more with the refresh rate, really for me... I have my desktop set to 60 and when any other app is set differently it does that...
It may be purely coincidental, but making sure the resfresh rate and resolution is the same all around always seemed to curb the issue for me..

Bullseye! Set the refresh rate and resolution in the Mameanalog+ mame.ini file to match my desktop settings and it fixed the problem.
Thanks OJ!
