I saw this and thought it worthy of a post.

$5.99. Heck I bought one and I am not even sure my PS1 even works anymore.

How much was that with shipping? That would be useful for a lot more than the PS1.
-
At the very least, you could use it on a PS2. It's probably easy for hacking, too.

There are Playstation adapters for pretty much all 32+ bit systems now. I have a Playstation adapter for my Vectrex, even.

This whole new generation of consoles will pretty much make old controllers useless. They probably did that on purpose, though.

Only for those new consoles. The older stuff doesn't cease to exist.

Well when I get the new PS3, I'm packing up the PS2.

Funny you point that out. I work about 2 miles from there and stop by at least once a month. Great place! I've been eyeing those things, but just don't know if I can get enough games to make it worth while.
Last I checked they had 15-20 just sitting on a wire rack. They probably have more. If you want several maybe we can arrange something. Any excuse to pop by is okay in my book.
The last thing I bought there was a cold cathode UV light with two bulbs. For $3.99.
And two USB 6 foot extension cables for 2.99 each. Some really good deals.

I have one of those (well it looks identical anyway) for the PC. I got it years ago before I had discovered real arcade controls. It was pretty bad, had issues with stuck key presses, etc. Not sure if that's just because it was a keyboard passthrough though. It's sitting in my closet somewhere if someone wants it.
-
THey had those for the NES too didn't they?

Just heard today that there will be thousands of old games not compatible with the PS3. I don't think I'd put mine away until I finish all the Final Fantasies.

Yeah but I think that's because they screwed up and will be patching it later so they work...

btw, I had one of those joysticks... They where good for the time, but they are no happs joystick at all.
And they are really thin... I don't believe you would get a real happs in there.
but... this is the joystick taht I first hacked to a real joystick... don't remember it being a problem.
-
Oh yeah, they can patch consoles now a days! Cool, cool.
On those joysticks, I guess if you really wanted to, you could build a different base out of wood for it. Or if you're handy with the sheet metal, you can make something up....

For the price it's tempting, but it really wasn't the greatest joystick in the world. The buttons just press down on a circuit board below them. Not very responsive. Of course, I might have looked at it more favorably if I wasn't used to playing Tekken with the Namco joystick at the time.
Apparently, both sticks are hackable:
