Title: Mame32 Weird behavior
Post by: MameMaster! on November 14, 2006, 10:10:30 am
OK....I’ve been working on a bartop (to be revealed soon!).....and I was editing some roms in Mame™ from my rom list as the PC I’m using is old and doesn’t play a lot of the games very well.

I’m running Mame32 by the way on an old PC.

Here’s what’s odd--- ALL of my SNK games (ex. Metal Slug Series, Samurai Showdown etc).... disappeared from my list of “available games” when I refreshed.

At first I thought I deleted the Neo-geo rom...but did a quick sort using the “manufacturer” list folder and all the games ARE there AND they’re playable.....but the main list of games in Mame32 is not showing them.

Any thoughts?....

Temporarily I moved them all into my favorites folder and they’re fully playable from there....but it bugs me.

Sounds like you're missing one or more of the new (non-default) bios files in the neogeo.zip set.  Some were added to neogeo.zip so you could play different bios versions of the games from the same rom set, just like the original cartridges worked (different pcbs with different bioses resulted in different games with the same cartridge).  If you don't play those added bios locations, then you don't need them.  However, mame32 doesn't take this into account, and thinks the neogeo.zip is incomplete, so all games that use this are marked as incomplete.  Easiest if you find the missing file yourself.

thanks for the suggestion....the odd thing is I just reloaded a Neogeo.rom file from another version of mame I have and POOF they all came back.

Maybe I somehow corrupted the original file.

All is well now.

THANKS!
