Title: Determining Exact Size for a a Monitor
Post by: twitami on November 10, 2006, 07:14:03 pm
Ok, this sounds a little silly, but since I can't find any model numbers on the monitor I took out of my Mame Project's Cab, I need to know EXACTLY where to measure from. I thought it was a 25", but when I measure the unit outside of the cabinet, from complete farhtest part of the edge diagnally, I get like 26-7/8 or so. So is it really a 27"?

If anyone out there can give me the a very accurate measurement of a Betson, or a billabs 27" that would be great. The EXACT measurment horizontally would be the easiest to use, as the cabinet has 23-3/4" space.

Thanks so much!
Brian

Post the number on the back of the tube.  Likely starts with an 'A' like 'A68xxxxxxx'

The number right after the 'A' is the tube size (diagonal) in CM.  So 63 is 25", 68 is 27", etc.

Well, it is a Zenith tube, and it has the a sticker with all sorts of info, and one of the numbers is A63G....

So I guess that means it is a 25". Which means I am screwed :(

Why are you screwed?

What's wrong with your old monitor?

Old one doesnt work. Wanted to get a Betson or billabs for the MAME conversion, but I don't think they will fit. The monitor that was in there (the 25"), was a tight fit as it was.

Figured the old one doesn't work.  But it's possible it can be fixed.  If you're interested, that's what we have this forum for!

Nah, it's only standard res, and I really want a unit I can run MAME on, and run windows games on. Gonna go look at TVs today. Anyone ever decase a 27" HDTV? One at Best Buy for like $379.00.

Is it a K7000?  If so, you want to get rid of it?

Not sure. All I know is it is a Zenith tube. There isn't much else on it. There are a few stickers with WG and some numbers, but Wells Gardner's website doesn't list it, nor give any results when I use the serial number search.
