A ways back I came across a post about bezel glass or glass for over your monitor. Can't find it with the search feature. They were talking about a type of tinted glass that makes it hard to see imperfections behind the glass but not your screen of course.
Anybody know the post I'm talking about? Or, maybe you could just tell me a couple glass options that will hide all that sin that will lie behind it...mooouuhooohahhah!
Thanka for any help!

You must be talking about "tinted" or "smoked" glass. You can usually find it in ark grey or brown tint (but you'd want the grey). Any glass shop can help you out. You can also check at Home Depot. I don't really know what else there is to say.

Yea, you pretty much hit all the main ideas. In my mysterious post they had some fancier names for some particular pieces of glass and how it was better than some other stuff and then they argued about that a bit...You know the routine there.
Basically here is my goal with the glass. To make it appear that my monitor is a littel bigger than it actually is. I'm using a 19" earlier model Dell Trinitron (Frigin Tank it is). However 19" sqaure on my cab seems a little small when you step back. I want to cut the hole bigger and use some glass that only allows you to see screen happenings and not see that I cut my hole bigger than my monitor...

You're probably thinking of Greylite, which is usually accompanied by a number indicating light transmission (lower number = darker). Any tinted glass or plexi works, it just about how dark you want it really.

Greylite comes in 14 and 31 that I know of, describing the light transmission properties of each. I've had both and I prefer the 31 over the 14, but that's just personal preference. It's about 14/sq ft or more from most places I've researched from. Get it tempered though for sure.

Greylite is what they spoke of there yes and they raved about how it hides stuff that no one needs to see...IE monitor mounting type stuff.
What is the lowest-darkest you would want to go??...I mean obviously we don't want to go too dark!!
Released-What do you mean 14 sq ft...Is this the minimum purchase amaount typically or??

It's about 14 dollars per square foot, or a little more depending on where you get it. Greylite 31 is thinner, 1/8" I believe because it lets through 31% of light. It's not dark enough that you won't have to mask and paint the back or anything, it's just a nice arcade look over a TV/monitor. People love the 14 and I love the 31, just a matter of preference. I have a piece of smoked glass too and it's more grey than black, which it what makes the Greylite so nice. It's not a cheesy look at all.

Ok cool...got it now. I think I will be hunting for some greylite for my project. Even though Tommy's stuff was looking really nice...

I think the greylite will cover my hack job under the hood a little better. :dunno
