Title: Resolution confusion (atomicfe)
Post by: MAME TIME on November 05, 2006, 12:26:45 pm
ok med res monitor (mk2) arcadevga v2,

Allright for starters im running my desktop @ 800x600 and atomic fe at 800x600 aswell not using the mame ini's to determine resolution for the games, most games show up correctly with the exception of vertical shooters (which the highscore is chopped in half) i can live with that, but there is slight screen shake in the monitor and the audio sounds a tad choppy.

However if i change the resolution to say 640x480 i get a flicker in the middle of the screen and everything above the flicker shows up streched, but no shake in the monitor.

Does anyone have any suggestions to which res i should run the frontend at i guess i might have to resort to the ini's for eachgame, which is a pain because you have to check to see how the game displays then :blah: mod the ini for each file. hell im not afraid to do the work but there must be a better way

Hi,

I don't know what you call a md res monitor.  But if you are using a ArcadeVGA , i guess you need a 15khz output?

If you have a 15khz screen, only resolution where you the height is equal or below to 288 pixels won't flick.

Personnaly i use Atomic in 640x288 on with my ArcadeVGA.  And i generated automatically  mame Ini file using Ultimark tools AVRES.Exe  , that give very good results.

you can downlaod AVRES from my website :   http://www.atomicfe.com/Downloads/avres.zip

NOTE:  I have a ArcadeVGA V1  , and the avres.Exe file date from ArcadeVGA V1 time.  So , may be a new version can be found on the ultimarc's web site.   But i think in term of "native" resolution nothing changed so that version should work with your card.

hey Youki

i'll try atomic at 640x288 and use the ini files, but some off the time it doesn't display the proper res,
