Title: Question about these 2 programs
Post by: Hutt on November 04, 2006, 01:56:49 pm
PartyTime Jukebox

The PC Jukebox
http://www.thepcjukebox.com/home.htm

I am considering getting one of these.
However, I want to know something about the activation first.

Here is a copy of the email I sent to both of these companies.

Quote
If I decide to purchase this do I have to be online to register or do you just send me a serial.
The pc that this will be on is not hooked up to the internet and I reformat the hard drive once or twice a year.

I purchased a video conversion program a while back that requires internet connection to register.
Since the pc was not online I had to email a code that it generated to the writer of the program to get a registration number.
I don't want to have this hassle with another program.

I sent this to both companies twice and neither has replied...which is making me think that is probably the way it works...which also means I wont buy it.

I bought a program called SVCD2DVD a while ago....great program. However, you need internet access to activate it. It is not being used on a pc that is online...like I mention in my email above I have to go through the hassel and getting an activation through email. Worse yet...if something happens and the creator of the software disappears then my software is useless if I have to reinstall!!!

So if anyone know how these 2 pieces of software are activated please let me know.

Thanks.
Andy

Well i know about ThePCJukebox as i did register for that. To activate it you do need to mail a code to the author and he will mail you back. At the moment he is switching to a new product called TOUCHTRAX and your registration WILL NOT CARRY OVER. This is an issue as there are still several bugs with ThePCJukbox that it looks like will not be addressed. Also several users have had to re-install and have not recieved their codes as promptly as they would like...

I cannot comment on Party Time Jukebox as i have not used it so i don't know how the registration process works for that.

In a blatent advertisement you could try my software which is simular to PCJukebox... It's free (Donations are nice) so you will not have any activation issues.

Just is case anyone wanted to know I was right about both software titles.

You need to email the creators to register.

Quite unacceptable in my opinion...if they disappear and you need to reinstall then you are screwed.

Barcrest, I will check out your software.
