Title: I need spinner help
Post by: anthony691 on March 25, 2003, 09:40:59 pm
I am getting a Super Breakout cab with no PCB, but a control panel ect. and I want to know if I can hook it's spinner into an Arkanoid board. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Even if they are electrically compatible you still have to work out the mechanics side of it.  The orginal Arkanoid spinner has a gear set so 1 revolution of the spinner knob equals "x" revolutions of the encoder wheel.  This calibration factor is most likely hard coded in the logic board and not something you can change like you can in MAME.  I may be wrong about the spinner calibration being hard coded because I have not had the opportunity to play around with an Arkanoind PCB, but from what I've heard this is correct.

In order for the Vaus to move the correct speed you will have to match the same number of pulses per revolution with the Breakout spinner as the Arkanoid spinner produced.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I need to find myself an arkanoid spinner.
