Title: 4 Ohm system driving an 8 Ohm speaker
Post by: dislecksea on October 31, 2006, 04:25:32 pm
I am considering buying the Creative Labs I-Trigue 3300 ($39 at CC, after rebates), which have 4 ohms satellites, for my cab with the intent being to hack them into some speakers.  I realize that most folks use car speakers for this.  However, I am wondering what would happen if I were to use Happ speakers, which are 8 ohms, for this?  I am afraid that I really don't know much about this sort of thing, so I wanted to run it by the group?

Thanks
Miles

You can use 8 ohm but you will not get max power out of your amp.  It only hurts the amp if you go low.  If you use 2 8 ohm in parallel you will have a 4 ohm load.
