Title: Am I Doing This Correctly?
Post by: s8n on March 25, 2003, 07:30:49 pm
im in the final stages of my cab and im wiring all my buttons and JS's (complete newbie to wiring). when i crimp the wire into the quick disconnects im not sure if the wire is in the right place or not. i dont want to wire my whole cp and have to redo it, ya know. i was wondering if anyone has pics or some input about this. :)

i don't have any pictures, but its pretty easy... you strip the wire so that it will fit into the collar (the part that gets crimped... its probably not really called that, but oh well)... probably close to 1/8" or so...you stick in the stripped wire, and crimp down...  as long as you have metal-on-metal contact, you're in business...

Also make sure the wire isn't loose after crimping.  I found on a couple of connectors the wires inside were loose so I took the wire out folded it over on itself and put it into a new connector and crimped.  If the wires you are using are quite thin, make sure to fold the wires over a few times this makes it less prone to come out and gives more contact between the wire and the connector.

Use a multimeter to test for continutity.  Worked for me!
