Title: Tempest Speed
Post by: Dak-ak on March 25, 2003, 05:12:54 pm
i recently completed my harddrive hack spinner... unfortunetly, i am too young to have enjoyed tempest in the arcade...  i was wondering if anyone knew how fast the spinner operates in a real tempest cab... is the movement 1:1? or is it close to one spin equals two spins around the tube onscreen? or do you have to spin it crazy like to get all the way around?

just curious because i want to get the real feel of tempest

I had the exact same question. Here is the answer I got from someone with an actual tempest. Three turns of the spinner equals one spin of the shooter on the first tube. Thanks to Jim Tippins for the info.

After I finish my cab and set up a web site I plan to provide info on analog game calibration info like this. If anyone wants to send me data on other games, I will start collecting it.

This is good to know, I had been wondering exactly this since I build my spinner. I anxiously await any other analog calibration specs you can aquire   :)
