Hi all!
For my first MAME cabinet I wanted some nice artwork. As said it's gonna be a MAME cabinet, but I wanted some artwork of a game I really liked... Elevator Action! The original artwork I found I didn't like very much, so I talked myself into creating some selfmade artwork. Back in the late 80's I sketched a lot. I didn't do anything else actually. It's been a while since then when I touched a pencil.
I have tried a little with different characters and set ups of scenes. I think I have developed two main characters for the art that might be worth while. Since I´m on the board here for the cabinet, I thought, why not starting a posting of the development of the art. From the very beginning till the final complete side art.
OK, let me introduce to you...
Bad guy and the hero!

Yep, there has a lot to be done, but I have this feeling I´m on the right track!
Of course I want some feedback. So, take a look and say what you think...

Looks like you've captured the protagonist's helmet hair. ;)
So are you recreating the cab's design with new art? Or are you creating a completely new design?
Also, I don't know if you've played the sequel, but it rocks, and features co-op. You might want to pull in some stuff from that.

It's gonna be a completely new design. The cab is based on the dimensions of a centipede. Not everything, but the most.
Yes, I played the sequel, but not as much as the original. I'll keep it in mind.
