Hello
I have just built my mame cab. I have the "street fighter" style cabinet with the metal CP and 6 buttons per player pre drilled. I gutted an x-arcade 2 player and put it in my cp. Now the buttons are ok but the x-arcade joysticks are atrocious(at least to me). they are way too sensitive and have a super short "throw." I have to give baby taps to the joysticks to throw scorpions harpoon and raidens flying move is almost impossible. I think the problem is that the throw is sooo short that the switch is not released until the joystick is centered.
My question is which stick does the mk2 machines use?
I want that one. That seems to feel the best from what i can remember. I also heard that the super 8s are most people's preference. I usually play mk games but i have been also playing "garou" and mvsc2 KI etc. etc.
maybe since the cp is thinner(metal) the joysticks have such a bad feel to me.
thank you all so much for helping me make this mame cab happen. It's nothing special but i will take pictures anyway.

I also had the x-arcade sticks (an e-bay mistake) - they are made of doo doo. I purchased the Happs p360's and they are excellent for the fighting games. They have no microswitches, therefore the throw is constant all the way around. These feel like arcade joysticks, especially for the fighting games.
Since this is your primary interface with the computer, I am of the opinion that these should be the top of the line, and they only cost a few bucks more than the Happs Supers. They also have the same mounting holes as the x-arcade sticks, so no extra work was needed to mount them. You will need a 5v power source from your 'puter (IPAC, USB wire hack, or direct from CP).
