I'm thinking of adding a discreet volume control to my cab and need to know what is the best way to go about this i.e. what hardware and how to wire it up etc (and where to get it {im in UK}) all input gr8ly appreciated

I'll assume your using an Ipac.
What you can do is use a shifted key to control the volume using software. Maybe it'll work for you, maybe not.

HI,
This is what I'm planning on doing: don't know if it's any use to you but I reckon even I can handle this.

that is what i did for my cabinet, i mounted the volume knob on the top of the cabinet, about 6 inches back from the marquee. that way it is not seen, but easily reachable.

Same here. Not 6" away, but just far enough that someone just "hanging" their hand there wouldn't touch it, but reach an inch more and there it is.

I placed mine on the underside of the cp. So far it has worked out well.

I did this as well, works awesome! I placed it on the back left of the CP. You can't see it when playing and no controls are over there so you can't change the volume by accident.
If you want to do the same thing I did make sure to drill out the hole in the back panel of your CP before attaching it to the other sides, it makes like MUCH easier.
