Title: new Ultimarc/Slikstik SpinTrak spinner
Post by: RobotronNut on October 21, 2006, 07:18:37 pm
found this on retroblast.com. click here (http://www.ultimarc.com/SpinTrak.htm).

looks very interesting. i love that it's "flywheel optional." i've always thought that "long spin time" is probably more of hindrance than a help in the quest for high scores.

still waiting for "one spinner to rule them all" (high-res AND push/pull, to play arkanoid, discs of tron, and maybe warlords, all with zero compromise). we've made some good strides in that direction in recent months, but we're still not there yet.

Wow, those have a seriously small footprint!

Quote from: Ultimarc Web Page

# Resolution of 1000 transitions per revolution makes this the only control ever to match the Arkanoid Trackwheel but dispenses with noisy gearing.

# Precision dual-graticule optics as used on industrial shaft-encoders. Uses two etched mylar optical grids.

Bet that's the same stuff Whammoed used on these:
