Hello im trying to get the mk controller setup like it is in the arcade in a street fighter 2 cabinet. Its 6 buttons
--------------------------------------
button1 high punch
button2 block
button 3 high kick
button4 low punch
button5 block
button6 low kick
------------------------------------------
iv tried to go into the tab then controller for this game and set it up but i'm running into 2 problems this way.
1. when i put cursor on say button 1 and i hit enter then it waits for me to hit a button so i hit "left ctrl" it puts "left ctrl right ctrl" . So i go oh ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- better do it again i just want left ctrl so i hit enter then repeat and i get "left ctrl right ctrl or left ctrl" it wont erase the damn buttons any clue why? well i want this setup to stay frunctional so i thought i try this method because iv heard its the most effective.
2. i go to ctrlr folder in mame make folder called mk. then i copy std.ini in to it and change buttons rename it mk.ini and then last make sure from command line i add this -ctrlr mk to the starting and it should work right? it won't!!
so if anyone can please help me i would be very gratefull. also is it even possible to put 2 bhuttons with same keyboard function like the 2 blocks i'm trying to setup on button 2 and button 5?

ok i have found out you dont name it mk you name it the driver that runs the game. so i found the driver it is midyunit.c so i go to the crtlr folder make a folder called midyunit then add a midyunit.ini into that folder then i add -ctrlr midyunit to the command line and njope nothing any ideas what i still may be doing wrong?

read the ctrlr doc in the docs folder, you still are doing it wrong.
Basically, first delete your mk.cfg file in the cfg folder.
Then make a folder in ctrlr folder, call it something like "myarcade"
then make a mk.ini file with the mappings.
then call mame like "mame -ctrlr myarcade"
BTW, your issue in the tab menu, you paused the game, didn't you?

sirpoonga don't you need to call the folder with the name of the driver for that game? the driver for mk is midyunit.c so should'nt it be caled midyunit.ini?
also in command line you mean
mame game ctrlr - myarcade
like this?
also i did read docs it didn explain a whole lot but thanks for helping me

Nope, do just as I said. If you do one based off the driver the ini file effects all the games in that driver. to do a specific game just make an ini file for that game.
I just read through the ctrlr docs and it describes it pretty well.
