This morning on my way to work I found a computer placed on the curb. The only thing
missing was the hard drive. It looked like someone upgraded and decided to just throw out
their older pc.
It boots up and after plugging in an 8 gig spare drive, I installed windows and it works
great. Looks like I've got the cpu for the next build. I'm going to be board mounting it
and will be building my next cab on the cheap. Its a 500mhz amd k7 with 256 megs of ram.
what is the cheapest that you guys have build a rig?

That's hilarious.

Less than $40 out of pocket. The cab was given to me for free, and I had most of the parts on hand. Biggest expenses were a new light bulb and black mat board for the monitor bezel.

The whole idea of cheapest build is different for everyone I guess.
If you already have a computer on hand, tools, and a monitor. I wonder how those should count towards the cost. My first cabinet was super expensive because I had to buy everything to build a cabinet. Cabinets 2,3,4, and 5 became cheaper as I was able to use parts from the previous build.

That actually looks very good. Nice.
