I'd like to boot my XP as clean as possible. I'm using Bootskin for the MAME logo. However, after this, I get a blue screen with the word Welcome. It's not the screen for user logon, where you have to select your user. I'd like to know how to get rid of these screens. Thanx.

I've found this information here http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Hiding_Windows:
The following will hide the dialog box that appears that the beggining of Windows startup informing you that the system is "Loading Settings".
To do this,follow these steps:
Go to, Start Menu -> Run and enter regedit
Navigate to entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Policies>SystemIf there is an entry for "DisableStatusMessages" set it to 1 (the digit one)
If there is no entry, right-mouse click the "System" word, and select New->DWORD value, and enter "DisableStatusMessages", right-mouse to edit the value of it, and enter 1 (the digit one).
But it doesn't work ?

You're in the right place, but for some reason you ended up with the wrong solution. Here's the correct solution (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Hiding_Windows#Welcome.2FStartup.2FShutdown.2FBackground_Color)

BootSkin is a popular solution. I've tried it on all three computers in my house and it ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up* every one. Never did get it to work right consistently. Too bad as it would be a nice option to have. YMMV.
*By ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up I mean hang on boot-up, blue screens, et. al.

Thanx Jelwel! That was the solution. I only had to make a tweak for autologon (execute this: control userpasswords2) and it's perfect.
