First off, I've tried other FEs and they're all good, but I'm using GameEx at the moment. Loaded up the titles, icons, and vids, but the vids are like screenshots. Takes a long time to cycle through games and the videos play at about 2 frames per minute. Not sure what's up. I have all the alpha blending and such turned off. I downloaded ffdshow and they didn't work at all, then got xvid and they show, but don't move.
Machine specs:
2.0Ghz P4
512mb ram
Radeon 9550
Thougths? Thanks in advance

FFDShow should work with GameEx, but you will need to uninstall xvid codec, uninstall ffdshow and any other codec pack you may have, then install the ffdshow daily build (http://cutka.szm.sk/files/ffdshow-20051129.exe). That's the only way to be certain you don't have conflicting codecs on your machine.
Next you need to change the delay because you have a decent machine the video snaps can show faster as you scroll. In Tweaks/Performance settings there is an option called "Snap/Video Delay". Set it to "Faster" or "Fastest" and that should make them show much quicker.

You're the man HK. Fine fine workmanship

Yipes, now the whole menu is slowed to a crawl, even the config menu loads extra slow. Time to fiddle...

Uninstall the Xvid codec. Then install it again. During installation uncheck the option that says something about decode all blah blah.

1. First things ran fine.
2. Then I got the icons and vids. Menu was quick, etc, but the vids showed like screenshots.
3. Uninstalled all codecs. Installed ffdshow and set vids to 'faster', everything tanked
4. Turned off vids and icons, still a crawl.
5. Installed Xvid again, same performance. Menu runs at a solid 6fps or so.
Somehow I've managed to gum things up. I'm thinking reinstall might be easier at this point.

Final update: It was the video card! I had swapped out my radeon 9550 to try it on another computer and when I put it back in today, bam, back to smooth so let that be a lesson to you, GeForce MX 440 = complete crap. The radeon for some reason made all the difference. Back to silky smooth dopeness.

Maybe you had a dud one?
