Title: Miscellaneous opinions sought, microswitch to leaf
Post by: releasedtruth on October 11, 2006, 10:24:44 am
Gents, first off let me say that there's nothing wrong with what I have now, but I'm curious. I have 2 Happ Competitions and the usual array of cherry microswitched buttons. I now know I could drop in a Happ P360 and leaf switch those buttons. My questions follow:

1. Is there specific performance gain with the P360s? (easier diagonals, speed, etc)
2. This is subjective, but is silent much preferable over the long haul for buttons?

I was thinking of doing just the joystick now, then buttons later perhaps....

edit: Looks as though the slikstik stainless sticks I have won't work in the P360 and paying another 70 for sticks on top of the 45*2 for the bases sounds really painful

As you said, subjective.  I personally cannot live with clicking.  Check out ponyboy's microswitch leaf replacements...they seem to work well if you don't want to buy all new buttons.  I still like the feel of true leafs over those, but those are better than clicks!  Just one man's opinion.

I hear you. I may do the buttons and not the sticks for now since My stainless sticks won't fit on the P360 and spending another 160 after the first 100 on the joys isn't appealing.  I was planning on ponyboy's leaf adaptations, good call.

IMO some games seem right with microswitches and some with leafs. The clicking never bothered me. It's more about the 'feel' on a game-by-game basis.
