Title: Image displays for short time when turned on or off on Nanao MS8-26A / SU
Post by: patrickmaher on October 09, 2006, 09:18:30 pm
I have a Nanao MS8-26A / SU  that I have had problems with, originally it would work for between 5-60 mins and then have a strange display. See http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=51441.

I did a cap kit on it but still had the same issue after that.

I left it off for over a month and now when I tried it out the screen looks black. The neck is glowing. I am using a computer with an ArcadeVGA through a JPAC. If the computer is already booted up and sending video through the JPAC, when I switch on the cabinet power I see a moment of video on screen. In this moment you can recognize that it is the computer displaying windows. I don't see a complete screen image, but I assume this is because it appears and then stops in less than a second. Once it stops displaying the screen looks black.

The Nanao MS8-26A / SU  is set for 15K signal and the ArcadeVGA and JPAC are also at 15K.

Any ideas of what could cause this black display and very short period of display when turning on or off? If you need more details please ask.

Thanks,
Patrick

Nanao's have an "automatic brightness control" part of their circuitry (which I hate). Suggest talking to forum member Jomac in Australia since he's the Nanao expert. Send him an email since he doesn't check in here much.

Thanks grantspain,

When I turn the screen volts up the screen shows a grey back ground with slightly diagonal white lines moving vertically on the screen.
As before, when powering the cabinet on or off I can see the computer output displayed for just a moment.

Since it is displaying something with the screen volts turned up, what does that mean?

Thanks Ken,

I contacted Jomac a long time ago when looking for the capkit for this monitor. I almost sent this to him so he could repair it then, but I was unsure if the problem was the monitor chassis or something else. I will surely be contacting him again if I cannot resolve it here.
