I was just wondering if there is software out there, like CMPro etc. that can convert my complete rom archive from MERGED sets into SPLIT sets. I know CMPro is pretty powerful, but I haven't used it yet and don't know if it is capable of doing that.
I recently purchased the full set and they arrived on 11 DVDS as merged sets. I'd of course prefer split but haven't a clue about achieving that.
Thanks.

Yes, ClrMamePro will do that easily.
Roughly speaking, point it at your source folder, select "split sets", select remove unneeded, and it will strip it all down to split sets for you. (Theres a bunch of other settings, but thats basically it).

Thanks Silver,
Do you know if doing that will create another ROM file or simply rearrange the Roms? I don't want have to have 2 huge Rom archives on my HD. Thanks again.

What is the benefit are draw back of splitting your sets from merged sets?
Split:
Keep only the parents/clones you want, chuck the clones you don't want.
Smaller to upload specific parents/clones (except when you want the one and only clone).
Easier to download any new clones; no need to merge it if you download just the clone, and no need to redownload the parts you already have as you would if deloading a full merged set.
Smallest total size (about same as merged).
Most common found (split) becasue of the above three reasons.
Merged:
Less zip files.
Clones & parents move together in one file; no "lost clones" if you move/delete the parent.
Smallest total size (about same as split).
Non-merged, non-split:
Clones don't need parent zips.
