Have a Sanyo (Nintendo) 20-EZ in a (formerly DK) Vs cabinet that's giving me a bit of difficulty. I just finished installing a cap kit obtained from Bob Roberts, which has restored some range of adjustability and helped somewhat with vertical size and color, but the display still seems to be suffering from a lack of green and a picture that is too narrow horizontally. I've currently got a Vs. Duck Hunt board installed, but have a Vs. Golf board that shows the same thing.
With regards to green, the lack does not seem to be total - some objects seem to have a greenish hue, and the green smears off the side of the picture approximately 1/4".
Was wondering if anyone would be willing to provide some guidance in troubleshooting this thing.
I'm attaching a shot of my best efforts in adjusting this thing, as well as the MAME screenshot for Duck Hunt for comparison. Unfortunately my picture isn't the best at capturing the problem, but you can definitely see the color problem, and if you look at the right side of the image you can see the green smearing ever so slightly next to the grass.
EDIT: intended to post to Monitors forum... If a kind mod would please shuffle this over, it would be appreciated.

First off let me say that I am by no means an expert at this...or anything for that matter. Some times I wonder how I manage to dress myself. Here, however, are my thoughts.
First off on the green. It almost sounds like you need to degauss the monitor. The smear part throws me. Are (1) all the objects on screen the correct shape and size but the color is all screwy or (2) do you literally have sort of like a shadow that distorts (or smears I guess!!) the object. In the case of the 1st I would look into a manual degauss. There is an auto degauss on the monitor (heavy black wire around the tube) but sometimes it

Objects on the screen are the correct shape and size, but have no green, and there is a very faint green smear off the right side of the image. It's not the kind of color problem that you would typically see when needing to degauss. It's as if the green signal is very weak (or too strong, since this is a backward Nintendo monitor - not sure how that works, exactly). It's the same kind of smearing you would expect to see if you've got a signal cranked up too high, but there's very little green present in the image, so that doesn't jive. I've already played with the G drive and bias, neither seem to make much of a difference. I'm wondering if one of the pots might be bad, causing the problem. Would like to check for presence of a green signal, but am not sure where to check or what to look for (signal voltage, etc).
Will check the B+ voltage ASAP - likely after work tomorrow. Already have the game room cleaned up for the evening, or I'd do it now.

I believe there are red/blue/green adjustment pots on the actual Nintendo VS. board itself in addition to the monitor. I'd try turning the green up on the board and see if that does anything.

A good thought, but already tried that with two different boards and it didn't really seem to make a significant difference.
