Title: Suzuka 8 Hours 2
Post by: coachcarstens on October 09, 2006, 09:37:16 am
Recently, at an Auction, I was able to snag the following game for around 100.00.

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=S&game_id=9986

The game is Suzuka 8 Hours 2, and it is working very well for the most part.  I was wondering, if anyone has a manual for this game.  I would be willing to pay for someone to copy one for me and send it out.  I have not been able to find on on the internet.

Also, I have a problem I can't seem to figure out.  The left bike only gets up to 150km/h and unless your turning the "gas" lever, you do not move at all.  However, the right bike moves even when you are not turning the gas lever, and that bikes gets up to around 200 km/h when using the gas lever.  Any idea what may be going on here?

thanks,

Chris

Sounds like the bike on the left is a ducati  :laugh2:

Wow!  That sounds great.  Thank you so much!  I can't wait to see the manual!  I did figure something out though, by switching the bikes, (putting left on right, and vice versa) the game play works great now!  It just needs adjustment, and some other things, but things are looking up, the manual will really be a great help!

thanks,

chris

Hey Chris,

I bought two bikes and other parts from Suzuka 2 and interfaced the bike to my PS2 and PC. It works great but sometimes, the throttle only goes around 80%, kinda like yours. I'm thinking that maybe the connection from the handle to the pot sometimes slips? Anyways, I was also looking for the manual for more info on the bikes. Unfortunately, I did not find one but found the schematics, plus manuals to other Namco games that may be similar (GP500) at http://www.namco.co.uk/Namco%20new/Page%204/PDF/Namco%20Manuals/

BTW, you got a great deal!

Thanks for the link, I will have to look into that!  weird the the bike would slip in and out of full throttle, but hey, like you said, it was so cheap, how could you pass it up?

thanks,

Chris

your problem is badly adjusted/faulty pots or pots are slipping on the gears
some machines have a pot volume setup which firstly requires the pots to set in a certain way and then in software you can set the parameters of the pots, this is the case with many namco and sega games

Freeplay, were you able to scan your manual?  I'll bet you are still having problem logging in to the message boards or something.   ???

Also, I have a problem I can't seem to figure out.  The left bike only gets up to 150km/h and unless your turning the "gas" lever, you do not move at all.

This sounds exactly like a calibration issue. Open the coin door and hit the test switch. A menu will come up on screen. Select the control setup or calibration option and follow the on screen instructions. When you're done, both bikes should work correctly.
