Title: iPac4 & Dedicated Shift Button
Post by: Duster72 on October 09, 2006, 09:20:08 am
Okay, I almost have my CP done, everything is wired up.  I used the control panel designer program and got my ipac re-programmed and almost everything is working.

Here is my question: I have a dedicated shift button.  I understand that the iPac 4 has 2 seperate banks, so I need to run that single button to both one input on the P1/2 and the P3/4 side of the iPac.  Then, I need to go into the table view of the button assignments and re-assign the shift button so it's not on P1 Start (the default).

Do I need to assign that shift button to a keyboard button?  If not, how do I re-assign the shift input on the iPac?  Simply pressing the button on my CP does not seem to do the trick.

Part two:
I want to assign the coin inputs to shift+start (shift+p1 start ="5", shift+p2 start ="6", etc).  How do I assign the shifted buttons?  In the panel layout view, I can click on the radio button to see shifted commands.  When I am in there, I set p1 start to "5", p2 start to "6", etc, but that did not seem to work.  This problem might be with my attempt to assign the shift feature (above), so this might be a moot point, but I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly.

Thanks in advance!

I have mapped the dedicated shift button to "=" and am trying to set "=" as the shift button in the table view, but no matter what I press after clicking on the shift feature to reassign, it always shows (none) in the box.  I can press my shift button down and it lights up the two shift features in the table (even though they are labeled as (none)), but the shift feature does not function properly.

Surely someone else here has re-assigned their shift button?

Thanks

Why don't you just reassign p1 start to some other input, and use the p1start ipac input as your dedicated shift?

I did, and i remember it was kind-of counter-intutive.  you have to go to the keymap screen, which looks more like an excel spreadsheet than a button programmer.  that is the only place where you can change the dedicated shift button(s).  as you have the ipac 4 you can assign two shift buttons.  pretty slick.

I'll try to be more descriptive when i get home.

I ended up taking the easy way out and using sharidan's idea.  I still think I should have been able to get it to work another way, but in the end I was sick of messing with it.  Thanks for the responses.
