 And the heavens rejoiced!
Good to know that through these past 10 years, all that money has only bought ONE title.

Hmm.. let's see... its currently 2006. Past ten years would be 1996-2006.
Seems to me that there have been FOUR Yankee world championships in the last 10 years. But I suppose you're too busy rejoicing to do any actual math or know what you are actually saying. :lame: I'm going to go ahead and guess you meant since 2000... but seeing as there's been ZERO repeat champs during the 2000's, its hardly a good point. Even if your team is one of the other winners, they're doing just as well as the Yanks are this decade. Plus, add to it the fact that the Yanks have made it to the series 3 times in 6 years. Yup... that money is just doing terribly. ::)

Baseball might be fun if there were a sallary cap. The whole thing with the yankees being in it every year is stupid. It shouldn't be a contest of bank accounts. The best players should be spread throughout to league.

Agreed. MLB is turning into an empire, with only the "aristocrats" enjoying wins. Baseball has social classes based on team wealth. Take my Devil Rays for example... :-[
People want the Yankees to lose, just like the French Revolution.

No, I just went with what I heard/read. Maybe they did say since 2000. I could've sworn I heard/read 10 years though. My bad. :banghead:
For the record, I don't have a team except for every team BUT the Yankees. They need caps.
Someone here's a Yankees fan...

They do need caps, I won't argue that... especially when a good portion of big money players wind up being garbage *cough ARod cough*
The scary part is the Yankees made over a billion this year as an organization, yet still lost money. That needs to be toned down. Then again, a lot of sports leagues have gotten crazy with money, even if they do put caps in. It's absurd all around.
As for me being a Yankee fan.. guilty as charged. Baseball is the only sport I really follow, and the Yankees are more than a team to me. Yankee Stadium is a home away from home in my mind. Don't take my comments as an attack on you, im just sick of the 'hate the Yankees' bit. I loved them in the 80s when I was growing up and they couldn't make the playoffs if the entire AL caught ebola, so people who jump on the hate bandwagon just because they've had a good decade makes me angry.

I was under the impression that Steinbrenner was rolling in it. That stadium is sold out every game isn't it?

Part of my deal is the fact that the media makes such a big deal about them and only them. So I blame the media. I think I've heard of other teams who are dishing out big $$$, but still not close to the Yankees payroll.
Few years ago, it was in the news that the Redskins were passing out the big bucks even with the cap, and they ended up doing average, and that made me happy that year. I can't remember exactly what the whole story was, though.
I'm a NY Rangers fan. Sorta. Don't have an ability to watch them now, but they were the team I liked since I was younger. (I liked their logo and everything.) Been a slight fan ever since. Followed them alot in the 90s, especially during their exciting '94 cup win. I was a bit disappointed to find out they had a high payroll (from what I read years ago,) but I still root for them. (And they're still pretty bad.) Hoping this year will be better. Been a good start so far.
Baseball's the sport I follow the least. Though that was probably pretty obvious when I made that completely incorrect statement. :)
