Title: usb mice and MAME32 plus problem
Post by: bsellers100 on October 07, 2006, 08:29:29 pm
Well, I am in the planning phases of building a cabinet, and at this point I am working on getting the computer running and testing out controls.  I am currently using the Atomic FE as the front end, and it looks like it is using MAME32 plus(part of the plug n play package).  I am going to try to build my own spinner and steering wheel out of hacked mice, but it appears that only 1 mouse works at a time in MAME32 plus.  Is this a limitation of MAME 32 plus or am I possibly doing something wrong?  It is an older computer running XP home, so I have tried both serial mice in conjunction with USB mice, and 3 USB mice at the same time, but for some reason the games only recognize the 1st mouse used, even though they all work fine when not playing the game.  Any thoughts?

I don't use plus, but it's probably the same reason as official mame.

Mame now treats each mouse seperately, just like joysticks.  If you have two joysticks plugged in, one controls player 1 the other player 2 (by default).  Same with mice: you have three, one controls player 1, another player 2, and the third player 3.  To get mouse 2 (or joy 2) to control player 1, you need to remap.

If you just want to test the hardware, you might want to just use a 3 player trackball or dial game (rampart or super sprint, respectively).  Or just unplug the other two before starting mame.
