Title: In search for software
Post by: MameDownUnder on October 05, 2006, 07:52:40 pm
Hi Guys

Ive read most of the topics in here and for the life of my i cannot find software i want

I mean i love vmj, although i really want software that sorts by artists, but albums

my music collection is about 10k-12k and there was a decision when i first started collection about 8 years ago not to have id tags so they are all empty

ive seen some really nice software on commerical jukeboxes which sort by artist and good fantastic but ive looked through MOST posts by people and i cant seem to find something i want

Keep in mind i have not tried alot, maybe they advertise sorting by albums but can sort the way i want to...

must be kinda easy to use and very attractive to look at

Thanks in advance

Neil

How are your files arranged and named?  Without tags the juke is going to have to go by directory structure and file names to guess all of the appropriate data...

If your songs are arranged as C:\MusicFolder\ArtistName\AlbumName\TrackNo - SongTitle.mp3, then WinCab Jukebox should pick them up properly.  Set UseID3=False in the jukebox.ini to speed up the indexing process.  Oh, and yes, albums are sorted by artist name.

Thnaks Space Fractal for the sarcasm, ive tested almost all the software there - not quite what im after

Thanks Chris, my songs are in 1 complete folder currently (the whole 10k), although i can arrange anyway i need to - i really dont want to go down the whole album path though

If you do just C:\MusicFolder\ArtistName\SongName.mp3, it will assume that the folder the songs are in is the artist.  (One level from root assumes artist only, two levels assumes artist/album).

If it's in the root it can't guess any artist or album.
