A guy over at nesforums is in the process of building a huge NES to use as an entertainment center. Check out my RB write-up on it.....

fixed.....Thanks Chad

That's awesome. Too bad that once he puts the TV and stuff in, all it will do is show a blinking blue screen.
-
I'm sure someone here can help him with at least plans for building the controllers, right?
Also, since he's got the shell built already, why not go ahead and mod it with a PC with a sliding CD ROM tray? use it for MAME and other emulators ;D
-
That would have to be a bigass CD tray.
-
Looking at that, it would make a badass couch.
-
He plans on making a giant controller and make it a coffee table
-
Sweet. NES controllers were indestructible. I broke someone's nose with one once. My friend's dog chewed on one for a month once, then we used it to play Tecmo Bowl. We found one in the park that had been outside all winter and used it to play Ninja Gaiden.

Sweet!

It won't truly look like an NES controller until it has teeth marks in it.
-
The guy should also make a giant lightgun and use it for a lamp. ;D
-S
-
An NES MAX fridge that doesn't work very well.
-
I guess you would have to stick the NES Advantage in the corner and use it as a stripper pole/platform.
-
here's a picture with the tape off

here's a quick link to his site for more updates:

-S, he like the lightgun lamp idea......
-
I love the tiny little casters. They really don't look up to the task :) . How in the name of god would that thing ever be moved into a house? Imagine trying to get it around a corner. And, if I'm not mistaken, a standard doorway is 6' 7", while that monster is 8' wide. Is it modular?

imagine the storage space on a CD that big....
-
when building the coffee table let's hope he hacks his remote so he can control his TV with it
-
also I should note that he has this in his NES collection
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a256/nationgamesdepot/Display002.jpg)
is he going to have a helleva cool living room or what?
-
He needs to talk to the Attack of the Show guys.

Fully functional, if a bit hard to operate alone.
-
actually he said G4 did contact him yesterday
-
update:
TechJet Imaging (http://www.techjetimaging.com/) hooked him up with the decals he needed for his project.

This guy made one too! (http://www.nescapades.com/gameroom.htm) or is it the same guy? I think this guy's was posted here before, everyone was drooling over his console game collection.
-
On the same sort of topic, someone else made a giant gameboy dubbed the "GameMan".

Not to poop on this as Triumph (http://www.triumphtheinsultcomicdog.com/) would, but, um. . . what's the point? Is it functional in any way? Looks like a lot of great, high-quality work for something that'll just sit in the garage since it seems to serve no purpose other than to look at. :dunno:
Again, not flaming at all - it's great. But *what's it do* is my question!
Eh, maybe G4 will buy it for $5k. :)
-
Try actually reading the thread. Its purpose is clearly stated.

What is is that makes US people think big is always better ?
;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
I think the best use for it would be to clime inside and let it roll down the streets of San Francisco. Imagine some World's Craziest Police Chases-style footage of the thing flying through the streets and intersections and pinballing off parked cars. Just think of the headlines:
Nintendo Crashes through City
Giant NES Terrorizes Bay Area
3 Dead and 22 Injured in Videogame Attack
-
Climb in and go over Niagara.
-
Apocalyptic Shelter?
WAIT! How about the most kick arse military tank ever? That would be awesome!
-
Giant Nintendo Terrorizes Bay Area
No... non-fact checking idiot media would probably use a more attention grabbing headline like;
Super Nintendo Terrorizes Bay Area
(okay so I paraphrased a bit)
-
Almost:
Super Nintendo Terrorizes Bay Area; Mortal Kombat at Fault
Children and elderly hardest hit.
-
What is is that makes US people think big is always better ?
Because it is? :dunno
-S
-
Close, but here it is:
Giant Nintendo terrorizes Bay Area, local hero Jack Thompson saves children.
