Title: just plain wrong
Post by: myntik1 on October 01, 2006, 05:52:29 pm
My soon to be brother-in-law calls me and tells me he found 2 cocktail games on craigslist.  One is a knockoff of asteriods and the other is a knock off of space invaders.  So we drive 3 1/2 hours each way to find out the guy misrepresented the games.  1 was a horrendous knockoff of Galaxian.  I love Galaxian, but this game was so bad it broke my heart thinking someone bought this pos.  The other game was even worse.  It was some space game with a graphics glitch.  Or maybe kids in 1981 wanted to shoot at space ships that were a collection of p's.  Yes a big grouping of the letter p that sort of formed a ball.  The guy tried to pass this off as how it was supposed to look.  I tried to find a silver lining and offered to take the games off him at a much reduced price - 350 for both.  I'm fine with not taking the offer but he tried giving me some story that he paid 3500 a piece for these in 1981.

Has anyone else wasted a day driving to find out that someone misrepresented their goods?

Sorry to hear about your day ... as I sit trying to buy a couple of machines sight unseen (albeit with a much lower price tag than you were looking at).

Definitely need to get pics before driving.

Cheers.

What were the games names??

I had a guy inform me of a graphics glitch in a color sideart Tapper I'd driven 2 hours to get.  He was pretty much "take it or leave it" once I was there.  I took it.

Rick with a P he was. . .

the seller was an older guy, he said he didn't have a digital camera or a camera phone.  If we wanted to wait a month he could have his son or his grandson take a pic to send me.  So we flew blind out there and paid the price.
