Very interesting. I used to fly model airplanes when I was a kid. My dad was really into building and flying them. The plane in the video is much different than standard rc planes though. While watching this video, I was calling BS...until I went and looked up the 3d rc planes. There is NO WAY a person could fly a true RC plane in a gym. That is what I want to see! ;D

Yeah that thing clearly has extra props and motors. Those moves aren't possible with a regular one or two prop plane.

No, just the one prop. It is just a really, really light foam plane. It does not behave aerodynamically the same as a real plane. the engine is basically just gracefully dragging around the body of the plane. Don't get me wrong though, the stuff the guy is doing is very complicated. I have seen some real rc flyers do the same stuff, just on a bigger scale.

So his prop must have far better response than the ones I've used, that is for sure. The ones I've used were old and didn't respond nearly quickly enough to do that if it were attached to a paper airplane.

Right, so the flaps are huge and it weighs nothing outside of the motor.
That thing would HAVE to be flown inside, right?

Either inside, or outside with NO wind whatsoever.

That's why I was assuming it had other props and motors. You'd have to have enough weight outside that one prop wouldn't do all of that.

yeah, this model has a very high power to weight ratio as evidenced by the length of time it could hang on the prop. it is still an airplane and obeys the laws of aerodynamics. having more motors/props doesnt necessarily make a model perform better as that adds weight and realy good aerobatic performance demands a light wing loading. i was surprised by the size of this baby though! i imiagined it was park flyer size unto he had it balancing on his palm. electric has come a long way. pity it hasnt with full size cars...
