Title: getting past user select in windows xp sp2
Post by: katuuuz on September 29, 2006, 11:35:04 pm
hey guys, i have my front end, game ex of course, set up in my startup folder so it launches upon start of windows.  the only thing holding it back from launching automatically is this damned user select screen on the windows welcome screen.  i'm the only user/administrator on my pc, and i still have to select my profile even though there is no other profiles to choose (not even a guest account).  turning this off in the control panel/users section prompts me to type my account name win 98 style.  if there isn't a way around this, i'll choose clicking my account with my trackball rather trhan having to type my name, but i'm sure there's a way to just turn on the system and have it go directly to my profile without having to click it.  i've tried looking in the bios of my pc on startup but havn't seen anything that seems like it will work and don't want to totally f up my cpu.  help with this issue is gravely appreciated, and i hope i can get some helpful feedback.

thank you all,
katuuz

start
run
control userpasswords2
uncheck "users must enter a username and password"
click apply
type in the username and password you want to log in as
reboot

problem solved

It's also likely you have an auto-generated .Net account in there. If you go into the Users section in your Control Panel, you can delete that and it should auto-login for you.

Though the control userpasswords2 is the more futureproof solution.

yo load man... hahaha that's the best name ever, but the tweak ui worked like a charm... only my dumbass had already had the program to hide my recycle bin.  lol.  thanks though for showing me i can use it for that too.
