Hi everyone,
I recently completed my Mame cab and my son got it today for his birthday. The kids have been playing it non stop. They just asked me why the trackball games don't work. I tried it and sure enough missile command or centipede dont work with the trackball. The games work using the joystick though. The trackball works fine as a mouse. It is a Hap 3" trackball using the PS2 connector. I figure that it has to get turned on in Mame but I'm not sure how to do that. Any helpful suggestions?

The command line versions of Mame will need the -mouse option and Mame32 will need the "Use Mouse" option selected in it's config window. Other frontends have similar options in config menus, and in .ini files. if this does not help list your mame frontend and maybe someone can walk you through it.

I am currently using Mame32 with the gameex frontend. Hope this helps in finding a solution for me.

Do what NickG said and check the 'Enable Mouse' checkbox in the properties for the game in MAME32. Then, start up the game and press tab, and go to input(general) and map the X and Y axis to your trackball.

That was exactly what I missed (input general).
