I am working on a marquee for a cab I am going to build and would like to hear some opinions/suggestions.
I think the background needs something, but I am not sure what.
Thanks

Excellent colours and simple clean design. I like it. What does the CP look like? :applaud:

The problem is that there's too much of it. If you can't make the logo bigger, try adding a shadow or a horizontal stripe.
-
The lettering lacks definition, maybe it's all the horizontal lines or something but it makes it kind of hard to actually 'read' the name easily. I'd suggest like Gamecreature said, make the lettering bigger or maybe fade the colors on the background just a little so the lettering stands out more. Cool design, gets you attention like a road construction sign.

Definitely set the text apart from the rest somehow so that it's easily read. The background washes it out a bit. Clean otherwise

I just did this super fast so it looks like crap, but how about a gradient that runs down the middle to help pull the text from the background?

That might work. You have the right idea. With the backlighting the yellow will pop pretty significantly so you want to make sure your text is set apart, if that's your goal anyway...
-
try blue+black+red outlines for the text and white glow

Wow didn't expect so many response so quick.
I don't know if I am going to have any artwork on the cp, I am leaning toward a modular control panel so artwork will be difficult add.
I will try a few of the suggestions this weekend and post any results.
And for the backlighting I might try having a extra sheet printed that is black with the red area of the letting in white, hoping to get an effect that only the letters are lit.
Also here is one I was toying with for fun. I might use something similar, haven't decide.
Thanks for all your input so far

I don't think red on yellow offers enough contrast for the type to stand out. You really need to do something to lift the title off those yellow bars. Here's a quick and dirty option with a black grad behind the type.
-
Trust me, the title needs to be bigger. You don't want it to get lost.

Bigger text, black gradient in the middle.
After you enlarge the text, experiment with the black gradient size and transparency (or whatever the term is)
