Title: Really weird Windows keyboard issue
Post by: NightGod on September 23, 2006, 07:52:28 am
So, my I-PAC (which has about 20 hours use on it) was working perfectly yesterday, but today, when I press a button that has Tab assigned to it, it 'sticks' (the light stays lit up in the WinPAC panel assignment screen). I've tried using 2 different microswitches, two seperate buttons and even tried assigning Tab to another button entirely and it still does the same thing.

Anyone with any ideas on fixing this?

Of course, I have company coming over today, so it would pick now to screw up  ::)

OK, a bit more testing, it's actually not a I-PAC problem, the Tab key seems to 'stick' even using a regular keyboard-anyone seen anything like it before?

Sounds like a variation on windows sticky keys.  Usually only for shift ctrl alt and windows key but maybe you have reassigned some of your keys.  Make sure the option is off in the accessabilities options.

Ah, should have mentioned that, it was the first thing I disabled when I installed Windows on this box, but just to be sure, I just went and enabled it, then disabled it. Tab still being sticky.

Anyone else got any possiblities before I throw this mobo through a chipper? LOL.

This does happen, dont worry about it, although in the I-Pac software it shows it as sticking, in the actual MAME shell it doesn't affect anything.

can you remap that slot on the ipac to be another key instead of the tab key? Then remap windows and see if it still does that?

Tab works in MAME, but not Mamewah, which is obviously when I want it the most. And yeah, I have no problem when I remap the button to another key-the Tab has the same effect if I press it through either the Ipac or a keyboard.

Think I might try another motherboard for shits and giggles, I know I have at least one spare of that type floating around here somewhere.

Either try getting some different keyboard drivers, rolling back a day or two in your system restore (in XP) or try backing up your ini files then deleting and re-installing MAMEWAH and/or the IPAC software.

OK, swapped motherboards and it's working fine.

Anyone know the key in the 1.62 Mamewah beta that brings up the sort menu (like Tab used to in 1.61?)
