I've got a gauntlet legends with a WG 27k7501 med res monitor in it that the monitor is dead. I've also got an SF rush with a neotec NT-27E med res monitor. I can't find any detailed specs for the WG, but from the info I find, these 2 monitors appear to be compatible. Any chance I could put the monitor from the rush into the GL cab?
-
if they are both the same frequency then there is no reason you can't swap them just a case of sorting out the input cables-what wrong with the wg,just dead or ticking?
-
The frequency on both sets seems to be 25KHz.Both medium rez.
it had been shutting down on me after playing it for a bit for a little while. won't power on anymore now though. I had a guy look at the chassis a while back and it seemed better after he did, but the problem came back after a month or so. I was thinking of using the rush with mame for some sit down games and if I got a newer WG digital to put in that cab and that old one worked in gaunlet, it would work out good.

your old wg sounds like it wants a cap kit or the h.o.t is shot-also first you must check for dry solder joints
-
It had the cap kit done when that guy looked at it. What is the h.o.t?
-
horizontal output transistor,i guess you checked the fuse?it could even be the flyback transformer
i am not that hot on wg chassis so this is really a question for ken layton to answer,he would know exactly what to check
-
yeah I checked the fuse. I'm pretty sure the flyback was replaced by that guy when he looked at it too. thats actually what he thought was causing the occational shutdowns originally.
-
well if the guy replaced all the electrolitics, checked all the solder joints and replaced the flyback then the next sensible area would be the h.o.t and for the cost of a few dollars its worth doing(yourself :-\)-btw how do your know its monitor and not the psu-have you checked to see if you get a flash from the screen when you switch it off
-
I guess I don't know if its the monitor for sure. At this point, there is no flash or anything. When I power on the game, it boots up and appears functional from a playing standpoint. but nothing comes on the monitor at all. no flashes or blips or anything. same on power off.
-
look for an orange glow from the neck of the tube-if none def a monitor fault
-
ok. i'll check for that tonight.
Thanks for your help.
-
one more thing check the mains input to your monitor on its input plug(should have 120 volts a/c ot thereabouts)-you're gonna need a multimeter
-
ok i'll give that a check too. sure would be a pain if all this has been is no power to the monitor
-
gotta say thanks for the tip to check the 120 volt plug. the connectors were kinda loose fitting. I tightened it up a bit so the connector held together better and the problem seems to be gone.
