I would like to be able to power the monitor in my "new astro city" without turning on the power supply so I can use it with my dreamcast. There are 2 power switches on the cabinet. There is a switch on the back of the cabinet and a switch on the power supply. Currently, both switches must be on to turn on the monitor. This means the power supply must be active to turn on the monitor. I would like to have the switch on the back turn on the monitor while the power supply switch turns on the power supply only.
Here's my plan (the colored wires are the power wires):

QUESTIONS:
1) Is this a bad idea? Will I be able to still safely power the monitor and power supply at the same time if I use a regular JAMMA board?
2) Is circumventing the power supply a bad idea? The power supply doesn't seem to be doing anything for the monitor. The input to the power supply is AC 90-130V and the output to the monitor is AC 90-130V.
3) The deguass wires connect to the power supply. Does this foil my plan? There is a degauss button on the power supply, and I think these wires just connect to the button.

Hate to say it, but I believe the Astro City power supply also acts as an isolation trasformer, so you will not be able to just bypass it like in your diagram. Same goes for the deguass voltage wires.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be loading the +5 on the power supply while using the dreamcast.
