Title: Help identifying Wico Trac size
Post by: Boris the Spider on September 19, 2006, 02:38:43 pm
I'm trying to do a trade with someone on this forum for their Wico trackball. I'm trying to find out the size of this trac. The member says that:

"The interior diameter, where the ball's hole itself is, is
2".  Now, the "rim" around the ball, the exposed part on the CP, is 2 1/4"."

Can someone confirm if this is a 2" or 2.25" trac. I wasn't aware that Wico made a 2" trac but I could be wrong. Basically, I need a trac that will accept a billiard ball as a replacement ball. Will this one work for that?

Yeah, it's mine and we can't quite figure it out.  It certainly is smaller than the standard Centi trac, so pretty sure the Centi is a standard pool ball. . .

Anyone know for sure, tho?

BTW, no part number on the exterior.  Bottom just says WICO CORP PATENT PENDING.

I think it's a 2.25 trackball.  I'm guessing from that the standard 3" TB has a 3" rim and 2.75" hole.

I'll check my 2.25" TB when I get home, but I'll lay money that you're looking at a 2.25" TB.

Centi would be 2.5 then, correct?

Centipede uses a 2 1/4"  too.  You may be thinking of Millipede which uses a 3" ball.

Too lazy to take apart the TB, and can't find my calipers, but eyeballing looks 2.25" & 2".  More support, happ's 2.25" TB mounting plate (http://www.happcontrols.com/trackballs/56553000x.htm) (aka a standard 2.25" mounting plate) shows the outside diameter of the rim should be 2.25", and I was able to measure my TB's rim width: 1/8".  And 2 1/4" mounting plate hole - (2 * 1/8" rim width) = 2" TB hole.

You're looking at a 2 1/4" TB.

Yes, you can put a pool ball in there. A brand new cue ball is like $5 at Wal-mart.
