Note: looks like the video premiere's tonight at 9PM PST. I'll try to provide a new link after that. RIAA ---daisies---. I sent the link out to all my friends too.

So, like-what song was it?

"White and Nerdy"

http://www.myspace.com/weirdal

Via Wikipedia: "The video was leaked onto YouTube on September 17, 2006 just one day before the video was planned to be officially released at 9PM Pacific time the next day at AOL.com. Due to the leak, the premiere was cancelled..."

...

Via Weird Al: "Apparently, the video has already leaked online, and AOL doesn't feel comfortable doing a "World Premiere" promotion for a video that a number of people have seen already."

WTF kind of logic is THAT?

That is hilarious.  For those that don't know, atlantic records stopped weird al from releasing a song on his new album even though he had permission from the musician, so wierd al released the song for free on the internet a while back just to spite them.

You think that's funny, pause it on the binary screen and check out what that says

Oh, and FDR was faking it

That video is funnier every time I see it.  I never thought I'd say this, but Donny Osmond was great in that video, as was the brief appearance of seth green.

Funny.

AtomSmasher is right, I have a little more respect for Donny Osmond.

I need to learn that dance for the next time I hear Ridin

Type the 1s and 0s into a text field save it out as a txt. Change the extension to jpg.  Then open it up in an imaging application.

You'll need to save out all the different backgrounds as separate images.

This wont work on a mac though.

Great to see Al back, especially after the untimely death of his parents.  :(  Man's a genius!

I actually thought he was back a year or so ago - I heard the Bowling for Soup song "1985" or whatever the hell it's called and thought it was him!

I don't recognize that song, but Al's last album came out only 3 years ago.

But that was still prior to his parents' accidental deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning, right, or is my timeline messed up?

I think your right, from the sound of your post I thought you were saying he's been gone for a while, even though its only been 3 years, which is less time between albums then he usually takes.

Yeah, just the fact he came back at all.  Some people just fade away after something like that and was curious to see what Al would do.

He went on stage the evening of the day they died, saying that the energy and love he felt from the audience helped him deal with the emotions. If anything, it's likely their death sped up the release rather than hindered it.

And if you listened to any modern music stations at all a year or so ago, you heard the song 1985-its the one with the lyrics mentioning all the 80s bands "There was Springsteen, Madonna, way before Nirvana. There was U2 and Blondie and music still on MTV. Her two kids, in high school, they tell her that she's uncool, because she's still pre-occupied, with 1985."

If you haven't heard it, head over to Yahoo Launch and watch the video, it adds alot to the song.

Pretty good, Vulcan sign to top it off and all.

Pretty good, but it's no "It's All About the Pentiums."

I didn't like the pentiums song all that much. I personally ranked "White and Nerdy" third behind "Fat" and "Amish Paradise". My wife had only saw Amish paradise video, so we went to youtube a week ago and had a weird Al video marathon. YouTube Rules!

Guessing I liked "Pentiums" more since I, um, "identified" with it more.  "W&N" didn't really strike a chord with me, I guess.  I'm not THAT nerdy!    ::)

Hard to say what my all-time Al fav is, tho.  "Fat" is pretty damn good, tho.

"Like a Surgeon"
"I Love Rocky Road"
"I Lost on Jeopardy"
"Eat It"
"Living With a Hernia"
"Smells Like Nirvana"

I mean, the list just goes on and on. . .

From Wikipedia:

Paul McCartney refused Yankovic permission to record a parody of Wings' "Live and Let Die", entitled "Chicken Pot Pie", because McCartney is a vegetarian. It has been performed numerous times in concert, however.

Brilliant.  Just brilliant.  :)

Weird Al doesn't have to have permission to do song parodies. He is a nice guy though and for the most part respects artists wishes. If I remember correctly, Coolio strongly objected to Amish Paradise. Now video's are another issue. Eminem blocked a parody video Weird Al was going to make.

Yup, true and it does explain that in the Wiki entry.  Pretty good of him to do that.  Still, I think an entire mini-LP of Prince songs would be a hoot (Prince has never given him permission and swears never to).
