Is there a step by step process to getting the videos to work instead of snap shots in Mala? I am having the darndest time.
-
Nope... because it easy ;)
Ensure the following:
* You have the correct path for video files set in
options/Mame config/pictures & Videos/atttact video'set path here'
* You have videos enabled in
options/gui/options/'tick' Show Video checkbox
* You are using a Layout with a Video window. Or easily modify one with the editor to include one (instead of the snap window)
* You are using the latest codec. If it plays in Windows Media player it is ok,

I have done all of those things and the videos play fine in WindowsMedia. I must be missing a step.
Do I need to erase the path to my snapshots?
Do I need to uncheck the box for show snapshots?
Do I need to remove the "snap" window in the layout editor?
Do I need to do something with that "Z-bar" thing in the layout editor to the Video Area?
Do I put the path to my videos in the Attract Video or Snap section of the Pics and Videos Mame config panel?
Do I need to disable video sound or something?
Do I need to refresh my game list?
I've tried all of this but for some reason it wont show anything. Even on my laptop. which is running Mala.

Weird
Do I need to erase the path to my snapshots? NO
Do I need to uncheck the box for show snapshots? NO
Do I need to remove the "snap" window in the layout editor? NO you can have both in your layout if you want to.
Do I need to do something with that "Z-bar" thing in the layout editor to the Video Area? Don't think so. Video is always on top
Do I put the path to my videos in the Attract Video or Snap section of the Pics and Videos Mame config panel? Attract
Do I need to disable video sound or something? Nope
Do I need to refresh my game list? Nope
My Questions:
1) Are you using a supported video foramt - Avi, mpg or wmv.
2) For a test can you play a video on Start-up? (options/gui/start) using RC7a
3) For a test have you tried making a simple layout from scratch for a test to see if your vids are ok? . See attached Pic

I am using a start up vid (AVI, same as the attract vids) and it works.
I will try making a simple layout to see if I can get it to work
