BYOACers, I need help!!
I've got two bezels I'm trying to scan (canyon Bomber and Devil Zone).
Both pieces are on the back of 1/8" glass, and the picture comes out all blurry when I try to scan. Is it something I'm doing wrong, a limitation of scanning in general, or is there a better scanner out there that can do the job (currently using a Canon LiDe 50). I've tried adjusting every setting I can think of, to no avail.
I'd really like to scan Canyon Bomber in for MAME (and for jcroach):

That's because the focus is automaticly adjusting itself to the scratches on the glass, and not the graphic behind it.
I'm not sure what can be done about that, other than trying to get the glass as clean as possible.

Another option is to take a picture of the bezels using as high a megapixel camera that you can get your hands on. Use a tripod and no flash, trying to frame the bezels as best as possible. This should give you a fairly decent image to work from.

That's a really good idea actually. Use some external lighting (like a desklamp diffused behind a piece of paper to provide the proper lighting)
