Title: Centipede board repair...C55-C57
Post by: ArtMAME on September 13, 2006, 08:55:44 am
I just got a Centipede board in the mail that was damaged during shipping.

C55, C56, and C57 were sheared off and I am looking for replacement components.
The parts list says they are ".1 uf Ceramic-Disc 25V Radial-Lead Capacitor"
but they do not really look like any disc capacitors that I have ever seen.
They look more like axial-leaded components to me, kind of like a diode or resistor.

Would I be able to use something like this as a replacement?:

http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item/RM-104/search/0.1UF_50V_RADIAL_CERAMIC_CAPACITOR_.html

Sorry about the long URL... :-[  ... Oh heck, I just deleted it...

Also, does any one know if these caps are polarized?

If these won't do, does anyone know where to get the exact replacement part?

Thanks.

That sucks.  Must of been packaged like crap.  You may want to check to see if any other components
got damaged or broken joints.

They sell ceramic capacitors that are axial.  Digikey, Mouser, etc would have them.
I don't know what the smaller places have.  The ones posted in the link would work as well,
mounting may be a slight issue but they would work.

Also, Ceramics capacitors don't have a polarity.

Hey Art,
I do not know about if these will work or not, but if these are right, run down the road to Fry's off of Pleasant Hill Rd. They have a while section of componants. It will save you some time and possibly shipping. I used to buy all sorts of stuff from RadioShack, but they have gotten clueless and very expensive. They are no longer about what they once were. They lost focus of what they wanted to be.
Not it more like crap shack (or outhouse even).

BTW if you want to shorten the link do the following.
Put the folowing in [ ] square brackets not the rounded brackets.
{url=http://www.megalongurlthatgoesoffthepage}  Then between the brackets is the Link word {/url}
Will look like  this (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?parentPage=search&pg=2&summary=summary&cp=&accessories=accessories&productId=2062365&kw=capacitor&techSpecs=techSpecs&currentTab=techSpecs&custRatings=custRatings&features=features&y=10&origkw=capacitor&s=A-StorePrice-RSK&x=8&support=support&numProdsPerPage=20&tab=summary).
Or you can add Bold and underline and hilight like  This (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?parentPage=search&pg=2&summary=summary&cp=&accessories=accessories&productId=2062365&kw=capacitor&techSpecs=techSpecs&currentTab=techSpecs&custRatings=custRatings&features=features&y=10&origkw=capacitor&s=A-StorePrice-RSK&x=8&support=support&numProdsPerPage=20&tab=summary).
